ENGINEERING ANSWER

The microstrip tools use the Hammerstad–Jensen quasi-static effective-permittivity and impedance equations for an isolated, uncovered line with zero conductor thickness. Supported width-to-height ratios are 0.01 to 100.

How this works

The width solver numerically inverts the same model. It is not an independent validation of that model. Wavelength uses c/f and an explicitly entered effective permittivity; it does not substitute bulk Dk for a microstrip field solution automatically.

Scope & transparency

Copper thickness, roughness, solder mask, dispersion, anisotropy, nearby metal, finite planes and transitions are omitted from the quick line model. Use a field solver and measured coupons for release. The stackup is a geometric sketch; cost and panel tools expose planning assumptions.
